No Kev, you are missing the point. I was not disputing their right to say that stuff. This was not a free speech debate. I was commenting on the notion that the Westboro folks are not even capable of being called intolerant under Ben’s twisted definition of that term. The fact that they have the right to be intolerant is indisputable. But the fact that their bigotry IS intolerant should also be, among reasonable people. By Ben’s definition those bigots are less intolerant than MLK and the civil rights movement, for the reasons I explain in the piece, and which you ignore. But he doesn’t actually have the guts — and neither do you I bet — to make that argument publicly, because you and he would both know how damned stupid it sounds…
