Refusing to Date Trump Voters Isn’t Intolerance — It’s Good Taste

I know it’s common for Boomers and Gen Xers like me to talk all kinds of shit about young folks nowadays.

You know the drill — like how they’re hopelessly disconnected from the world and too self-indulgent to care about the state of the nation.

And while I’ve never believed it, I know many of my peer group still do.

Thankfully, we now have confirmation that at least in one critical regard, as Pete Townshend put it more than 50 years ago, “the kids are alright.”

Well, at least those in college who lean to the left.

According to a recent Axios poll, college students who consider themselves Democrats overwhelmingly reject the idea of dating or even being friends with people who voted for Trump in 2020.

And if this doesn’t restore your faith in the intelligence of young people, nothing will.

Oh, right-wingers are screaming about it, of course, proclaiming Democrats and liberals to be intolerant bigots while they are the open-minded and ecumenical ones. After all, as the survey found, young Republicans were far more open to dating or…
