Yes, Trump’s Views are Anti-Semitic — Here’s How We Should Respond

Encouraging Jewish dissent about Israel is the best way to undermine ignorant claims of dual loyalty

What Donald Trump knows about Jews could fit in the hole of a bagel.

With room to spare.

And what he claims to know is a textbook collection of anti-Semitic stereotypes.

A few examples:

  • He once said the only people he wanted counting money in his casinos were “short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”
  • In December 2015, Trump spoke to the Republican Jewish Coalition and said he knew the people there wouldn’t support him because he couldn’t be bought. After all, as he put it, “I don’t want your money.”
  • In 2019, Trump referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “your prime minister” when speaking to Jewish American supporters in Las Vegas.

And most recently, in a petulant rant to an Israeli journalist, Trump said American Jews don’t love Israel enough. After all, if we did, we would all jump to his defense like Ben Shapiro and Alan Dershowitz as a thank you for moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
